Eating should be fun.

Hi friends,

Yard House Poke Stack without chips.
Cuter than food.
Roasted baby bell pepper. Like Candy.
It's been a while. I know you missed talking about food like I did. I am officially obsessed with instagram. I take pictures of food A LOT. I'm not really sure if people like it or not, but haters can unfollow me.
Salmon with lemon, kelp sea salt,
 and pepper.

Baked s'mores. Betty Crocker Recipe.
 I ate too many.
Gluten free bratwurst.
I have kind of been experimenting with my diet, and I'm not really gung ho (sp?) on paleo anymore... at all. Let me tell you what I think rocks about paleo:

1. If you eat paleo you eat clean... eating clean is just smart.
2. It cuts out gluten and dairy without even thinking about it.
3. This is the best one. You learn that fat is NOT the enemy. It's your friend.

I can't emphasize #3 enough. I grew up around fat-free everything. Since fat has 9 calories per gram in comparison to 4 calories per gram in sugar and protein, fat calories add up faster. Therefore, fat makes you fatter. Because being fat is about calories. Wrong. You don't believe me? This article is quite compelling.

plus veggies with curry.

So if you actually decide to read it you will see that eating the same amount of calories of different compositions of food has very different outcomes. Dieters who ate a high-fat, high-protein diet (atkins/paleo if you eat it the "right" way) burned 300 calories more a day. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. 100 calories/day is roughly 10 lbs/year. So if you eat this way, that's 30 pounds gone while eating the same number of calories. Cool right? Great.

So now you know that paleo pretty much rocks. Let's talk about why I am not so gung ho on it anymore.

1. Everyone does not have allergies to gluten or dairy. Although, eating paleo is a great way to find out.
2. I really really really love some foods that are not paleo friendly (aka recently cookie ice cream sandwhiches - I'm not happy about this).
2.5. And legumes... I don't think legumes suck as much as paleo says they do. Please don't fight me on this... I don't want to argue about the science. Every food has pros and cons.
3. Paleo is expensive. I'm 22 and my parents are no longer letting me leech off of them. I guess I officially sucked them dry...
4. Sometimes eating paleo is a fun sucker.
Life is about balance.
Dear Lord.
Gouda.

In conclusion, you have to find the right diet for you. I don't know if I led you there or not, but that's my point. I think dairy doesn't really hate me as much as I thought it did. Or maybe cutting it out allowed my body a break and now it can handle it again? I do think I am allergic to gluten. I'm smelly when I eat it (tmi?) and acne plagues me. Also I would like to add that I don't do well with restriction diets. I eventually break... doesn't everyone?

I eat "paleo" acceptable meals a lot of the time, but really I just want to eat clean and gluten free. It surprisingly has not changed my body at all, and I am a far happier person. I like quinoa. Bye.
